Specific room info for Locanda Barbarigo in Venice
My daughter has been offered the Smeraldina room with view and the Pantalon overlooking (the response stopped there) for 185 and 165 euros respectively at the Barbarigo. Does anyone who has stayed there have recollection of either of these two rooms to be able to advise us as to whether either has a canal view? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The hotel's own website states as follows:
"Smeraldina
- 2 persons
- suggestive view on a canal
- bath-room with shower"
It does not describe a room called Pantalon, but I would imagine at the lower rate it perhaps looks onto a courtyard.

JulieVikmanis, I had the misfortune of staying in the Smeraldina room....it looks pretty but the bugs ate us alive. If I were going back I would book a room at Hotel Ala (it is right across from Locanda).
I saw one of their rooms and they are gorgeous.

My mother and I stayed in the Smeraldina room last year. Room was very nice but do not open the window! Unfortunately, I opened ours to listen to the singing gondolier and paid for it. The remainder of my trip was so uncomfortable b/c of all the mosquito bites. The hotel is quite charming and in a great location.

Not sure what time of year those of you who experienced mosquito problems were traveling, but screens are extremely rare in Italy, and I'm guessing the chance of being bitten would be similar at other hotels.
I usually get eaten alive if there are mosquitos anywhere around, so consider myself fortunate not to have encountered any on my last trip to Venice (in early October a couple of years ago.)
