specific assisi hotel question

Has anyone heard anything about the San Crispino Residence in Assisi. The website makes it look very attractive, but it is listed on another website as a 2 star. Any comments about the property would be great.
Going in May. Other choices are: Fontebella, Windsor Savoia, Giotto and Hotel dei Priori.

I stayed at the dei Priori in March '01. It was recommended by a past poster here (Paulo) whose mother stayed there.
It was a very nice 3* hotel and I had no complaints. It's a stone's throw from the Piazza del Commune which is the center of town.
Regards, Walter
[email protected]

I spend some days in Assisi this past November and don't remember seeing the San Crispino. I just checked their website and it looks like a lovely place to stay. I made notes of a number of hotels in Assisi while walking around; the Windor Savoia, Fontebella, Dei Priori and Alexander are places that looked worth a try. Highly recommend dinner at the Dei Priori. We thoroughly enjoyed wonderful meals as well as the great service. We stayed at the Alexander, which faces the Chiesa Nuova, oustanding location. If going in May, I would recommend that you stay in a central location, easily accesible if there the need to return to the hotel during a rain event, etc. These are common and internmitent in Assisi during May (I spend some time in Assisi in May 1994). The Dei Priori has lovely facilities and a lively bar area. It is located half-way the main street that runs from the St. Clare Basilica to St. Francis (good location). The Windsor Savoia has beautiful panoramc views of the Umbrian crountryside and is very close to the St. Francis Basilica. So is the Fontebella. Enjoy your time in Italy!

Irene2 (or others),

Curious if you stayed at the San Crispino Residence in Assisi and what you thought of it, if you did.

Thanks.

Hello-
I fell in love with the place via their website. I want to make a reservation there later this year, but would love to hear if anyone actually been there.
Thank you.

Just posted this on another msg.Pictures are true.Friends and I were in Assisi 2 years ago and loved it, not in small part to the Residence San Crispino. It makes me smile just to think of this place. We stayed in Brother Sun apartment as there were 4 of us and we still talk about it - the most charming place I've ever stayed. We went to France last year and, in planning, we all said "do you think there's a chance we could find a place like that in france?".brother sun has a huge terrace overlooking the Umbrian hills that runs the lenth of the apartment. It has several sets of tables and chairs on the terrace. Of course, kitchen,2 bathroomss, etc. 7 different configurations.Written up in Karen Brown but nothing could do it justice. Parking is a 3 minute walk below in an open lot. Can't recall if it cost anything. Might have been free? just went to look at url as a treat to myself and here it is. http://www.sancrispinoresidence.com/...za/default.htm. I have no vested interest in this place. just planning a trip to Prague looking for a place, thought of San Crispina and how my msg might help someone else.
