Hello - What restaurants (breakfast/lunch/and dinner) do you recommend in the Spanish Steps area? Thank you.

Be careful in that neighborhood. We fell for lunch in that area twice (starving teenagers with us) and it was overpriced and BAD. Of course, we just wandered into places spur of the moment. (Which worked very well in other less touristy areas.) So you're right to do a little research.

It's a VERY tricky area... I usually go to the Enoteca Antica in via della Croce [it's a street that goes off the Piazza on the right hand side, parrallel to via Condotti] They've got really good food and very reasonable prices!

In general that is not a good area for eating. Last time I stayed there in went outside the area for dinner every night except for one dinner at Nino.

But along Via di Ripetta, south of Pza del Popolo, Buca di Ripetta and Trattoria al Gran Sasso, offer excellent food at moderate prices and are not filled with tourists. This would be NW of the Pza di Spagna, about a 12 minute walk.

We ate twice at Babington's Tea Room right next to the Spanish Steps. It was a bit pricy for lunch but worth the experience.

We ate at Rampa(over a year ago) to the right of the Spanish steps and found it good. Hope it is still there as we are back to Rome this weekend. We were there for dinner.

My favorite restaurant in this area, three minutes from the Spanish Steps, which I recommend frequently, is located between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain-LA SCALINATA-wonderful Roman osteria, packed every day and night, (hard to get in at peak hours) house-made specials every day, closed Sundays. Via Sant Andrea delle Fratte 32

Another vote for Enoteca Antica in via della Croce. Close to Spanish Steps, really good food, very reasonable.
