Spain Itinerary Advice Please

Would appreciate any advice. In general, I enjoy more urban areas. I am most concerned that I may not have enough time in Sevilla. I have been to Barcelona and Northern Spain already.

Day 1 - NYC to Madrid
Day 2 - Madrid to Sevilla, Night in Sevilla
Day 3 - Day/Night in Sevilla
Day 4 - Sevilla to Granada, Night in Granada
Day 5 - Day/Night in Granada
Day 6 - Granada to Madrid, Night in Madrid
Day 7 - Day/Night in Madrid
Day 8 - Day trip to Toledo, Night in Madrid
Day 9 - Day/Night in Madrid (day trip suggestion?)
Day 10 - Madrid to NYC

Thanks!

Hola

Looks fine. My only concern is rushing off to Seville the next day. I would allow another day to settle in. Day trips from Madrid include Avila or Segovia.

Adios

Is this a tour? I am looking for a good tour for my 18 year old for for Graduation. I think this looks like a trip she would like.

Perhaps Segovia for your Day 9: the best Roman aqueduct, the Alcazar and you could taste good "chuletones" or "cochinillo"...
You could do also Cuenca (Casas Colgadas, Ciudad Encantada). Both are close to Madrid and very accesible by public transport, indeed.

I would add a flight connecting Madrid-Malaga to the flight NYC-Madrid; not clear why lose a whole day to get to Sevilla. From there, train/bus to Granada. Granada-Sevilla, Sevilla-Madrid. This way you will have more days for Sevilla and more days in Madrid. Otherwise, your itinerary is OK. Take Day 9 to do some last minute shopping or take a guided tour Avila/Segovia; let a day tour take you, so you don't have to bother with the logistics the last day before return to NYC. Have fun!

I, personally, like to get where I am going before unpacking. You'll arrive Madrid from NYC in early morning; and you'll probably be wiped out from the TransAtlantic flight and the loss of six-hours. Unless you have an early check-in arranged, your Hotel room may not be available until 1:00 PM or so. That said: Day 1 I would continue on to Sevilla, preferably by a connecting flight (allow at least 2-hours).

I agree with some of the other people that Segovia would be a good choice for a daytrip; but if you're in Madrid on a Sunday you should go to Retiro Park and watch the Street Performers. They're not aggressive like in NYC's Washington Square Park.

Thanks for all the advice. I am thinking of taking the high speed train from Madrid to Sevilla instead of a flight. Is the train ride scenic? A first class seat on the train is cheaper than a one-way flight and it seems like it will be fun. A nice change from Amtrak!

The AVE is not cheap, fills out quickly, the route isn't particularly scenic, and for the life of me, I can't figure why if you are already in an airport, would venture into the city, to hop in a train, when you can fly with much less hassle, and possibly cost.

Viajero, I agree with you. That's exactly what we did a couple of years ago. We checked our luggage through to Sevilla so we didn't even had to claim it in Madrid.
