Spain - Help with Itinerary!

Hello,

I'm trying to plan out a skeleton itinerary for my trip to Spain - mainly to buy in-country airline tickets in advance. I've been deliberating for the longest time about where to go. If anyone could help out with opinions about these cities, I would appreciate it so much! I'm a female in my late 20s and will be travelling alone, so I'm trying to plan out a trip that will be best for this.

I am flying into Palma de Mallorca at the beginning in July. Plan to stay a few days. Can't decide if it should be 2,3 or 4. Any thoughts?

Then, fly to either Valencia or Sab Sebastian. If I go to San Sebastian, I can try to try out San Fermin. I hear it's a crazy party. I think it would be fun, but since I'm travelling alone, not sure how fun it would be. A lot of my friends have told me it's a party that's much better to go with a group to. Any thoughts?

And about Valencia - worth going to? Or better to skip to have more days in Seville, Grenada and Madrid?

Whether I go to San Sabastian or Valencia at the beginning of my trip, the plan is to visit:

Barcelona - 1 week
Tarifa - 2 weeks, taking some water-sport classes and Spanish lessons
Grenada - 3 days
Seville - 3 days
Madrid - 4 days

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!
Jasmine

I went to Spain alone when I was 27, but I was in a language program, and therefore traveled with others. I wasn't in Mallorca so I can't help you with that.
I do remember Pamplona to be CRAZY, but fun. But I don't think I'd go there as a single female. Some of my blonde friends were terrorized a little by the guys there...no big problem, just a lot of staring and following for a bit. Also, many people are drunk and have slept outside for a few days and it's PACKED!!
I haven't been to Valencia, but San Sebastian is maybe my favorite place in the world. It is a beautiful resort town with 3 beaches, tons of bars and restaurants, young people, old people, and very easy to get around. I would definitely recommend it.
PS Seville and Madrid will be REALLY hot, but there is a LOT to see in both places.

Hey Jasmine -

I am also a female in my mid-20s travelling alone to San Sebastian in July. If you would like to meet up let me know!

Best,
Chris

We were just in Mallorca, but are a lot older than you, so I'm trying to look at it from a 20 yr. old's perspective (DD is 23 and a BIG Spain/Italy lover). While Palma de Mallorca and the outlying areas are supposedly "big" beach scenes in July, we spent a week there and while we had a good time, it wasn't our favorite place in Spain by far. However, if you love the beach and partying in July, it might work for you, but IMO 3 days would be enough. If you want to really experience Spain, increase the time in either Seville or Madrid (I'd pick Seville).

Haven't been to Valencia or San Sebastian, so can't help you there, though am planning to go to San Sebastian next time based on what I've read here.

Hope this helps.

jasminedew, I haven't been to Barcelona, Tarifa, or Valencia (next trip) but you can find a fair bit of advice for the rest of the cities at:

I got such an overwhelming amount of (great) advice that the best I can do is to simply point you to it.
