Excellent advice from Alvamo.
When in Nerja, go to El Pulguilla, one of my absolute favourite tapas bars in all of Spain, and I've probably been to some five hundred over the past thirty years. All kinds of delicious goodies grilled right in front of your eyes, and your chosen seafood or meat tapa comes perfectly grilled and juicy, and it's free with every drink in the huge bar area. Jam packed with locals at lunchtime and early in the evening: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...Andalucia.html
And I didn't know that the cathedral roof top in wonderful Málaga was now open to the pulic, would definitely go up here in a few days ;-)

And so many great roof top bars in town: https://www.spainfoodsherpas.com/mal...-rooftop-bars/

@kimhe, we love tapas! I do appreciate you posting the links of the places/bars/restaurants you recommended.
AND thank you all for your recommendations/suggestions/specific details, links, even itineraries @alvamo. We have a lot of research to do, but these made it simpler.

And inside the fabulous Atarazanas market in Málaga recommended by alvamo you'll find Café Bar Mercado Atarazanas and El Yerno. Both serve sensational tapas, and Saturday lunch in here is a highlight of the week for many locals.
Café Bar Mercado Atarazanas: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/...do-atarazanas/
El Yerno: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/el-yerno/
The new gastro market in Málaga, next door to the Picasso birth house: https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2...odie-traveller

And Eboka is one of the most interesting new restaurants in Málaga now, and Málaga is perhaps the most innovative food town in Spain at the moment. Antonio Fernández used to run top notch Dom Vinos before opening this a few weeks ago: http://ebokarestaurante.com/

And then you have of course all the fabulous traditional tapas bars and restaurants in Málaga, the chiringuitos/beach restaurants etc. And as alvamo said, many of the best chiringuitos are in El Palo/Pedregalejo just east of the city center: https://www.spain-holiday.com/Malaga...nt-restaurants

We just stayed in the Gallery Hotel in Barcelona. Very nice small, boutique hotel in a great area. We were just off the Paseig de Gracia, a block from La Pedrera. So nice to come back to this area at the end of the day. Lovely high end shops to look at.
In Granada we stayed at the Alhambra Palace. Lovely. Walking distance to the Alhambra. Amazing views.
BTW, we had a fun experience seeing flamenco dancing in one of the gypsy caves.
