Southampton to Stansted

In July, we need to travel from Southampton, where we are getting off a cruise, to Stansted airport, to catch a flight to Rome. Any suggestions for the best method of travel? Thanks.

You can go by train, but when you get to London you have to transfer from Waterloo Station to Liverpool Street Station by taxi or tube.

Thanks for your prompt response. Do you have any idea how much time we should plan on the entire trip taking?

From the time you board the train in Southampton, it should take about 2-3/4 hours. Trains from Southampton to London run approximately 15 minutes apart.

Trains from Southampton to London are now every half hour. Trains from London to Stansted are every 15 minutes. You can check schedules on www.nationalrail.co.uk.
