South of France in February
I am planning a vacation to the south of France in February. I am wondering what the weather is like at that time of year and what area is especially attractive to visit. We are very open to anwyhere as long it there is lots to do and nice scenery.

We were there this year in the 2nd half of Feb. We had 3 days in Paris and then flew to Nice. We rented a car and spent a week driving the coast to Collioure. Immediately next to the coast things were blooming and the weather was cool but fine for touring. There was only one afternoon though when we were able to take off our jackets and be warm enough in long sleeve shirts. About 25 miles inland things were much bleaker--no greenery, plants still dormant. We also encountered 2 days of the tremontaine, a wind that was blowing 180 K per hour. This was in the area close to Perpignan. Apparently they even closed down the TGV for a while for fear that the winds might blow trrains off the tracks.
