south France

My wife and I are taking our daughters to France this summer. We are looking for an inexpensive B&B/hotel for 3 days in the area between Marseille,Arles, Nimes, Montpelier. The girls would prefer to be near a beach where there might be a promenade, and we need to watch our budget, hence the west side of the Mediterranean France rather than the Cote d' azur. Any suggestions as to towns, or lodging. Probably in the 70E a night range if possible. I've looked at many sites, but it would help if someone had hands on information.

I have the place for you! Bormes-Les-Mimosas, near Toulon. I stayed at the Best Western Le Mirage with my daughter two years ago in early May. I found the hotel following extensive internet searching and was sceptical that it could be as good as it seemed. I was very pleased with the price, accommodations, staff, breakfast and their services. The hotel is located on the mountainside and overlooks the water. As a service they will bring you to a choice of beaches. We had a wonderful dinner on the strip/?promenade across the street from the beach in the town. We sat and watched the locals play bocce in the median and received special attention from the owner of the cafe. Evidently Bormes is not overrun by Americans. Don't miss the old city at the top of the hill--it was breathtaking. I highly recommend the area and the hotel. If I ever get back to that part of the world, I will visit again.
