Hi
Yes it is spectacular. Try to get a window seat on the right hand side of the bus (to Positano). Can be crowded especially on weekends. I suggest taking it from the bus termini at the train station. The tickets are not sold on the bus - you need to buy them from outlets in Sorrento.
The road is very scenic but narrow and winding. There was plenty of ooohs, aaahs and whoooas

Yes to all the above.
We bought our tickets at a little kiosk next to Sorrento station just across the parking lot from where the bus goes. If you're coming back by bus get twice the number of tickets to save having to find somewhere to buy them later.
We were there in January and there were no ferries running. The last bus back was also very early, about 5pm I think.
You get off on the road above Positano and walk down down down all the steps to the little town.
The ride is indeed spectacular. If you sit at the front of the bus it's quite hair-raising.

In early October We caught the 1st ferry in the morning from Sorrento to Positano, mid afternoon caught the bus to Almafi then late bus back to Sorrento. Even at night with lights on the buildings and coast, it all looked spectacular.
