I am interested in recommendations for lodging on the Amalfi coast - budget is under $300 euro/night. I would like something low key, with excellent views and nice rooms - restaurant in the hotel is not important. thanks, michele

If you are willing to go as low as 110E per night, I can recommend the Hotel Le Sirene in Praiano, about 1/2 way between Sorrento and Amalfi.

When are your going? It can make a huge difference in price. We usually travel in May or earliest June - and even though it is technically high season to the airlines many of the hotels offer excellent discounts because they are rarely completely full.

Hotel Miramare in Positano. Unbeatable views. Try Room 210. I think the hotel maxes out at 300 euro night, even in high season. There's several posts on this hotel on this board if you do a search. Good luck--I'm envious!

Try the Tramonto D'Oror in Praiano. Fabulous views from the rooms, terrace and the roof top pool. It is about $150. a night. ENJOY!!!!

Sorrento is a great homebase for travel around the Amalfi Coast. I highly recommend Bellvue Syrene Hotel. Great views, beautiful, spacious & clean rooms, helpful staff.
In May you should still be able to get good rates there, although I know it does get more expensive "in season".
