Sorrento
My wife and I were planning to go to Sorrento for 10 days in September but unfortunately she had an accident and broke her leg. We have rescheduled the trip for May and are looking for an apartment to stay in rather than a hotel. We were originally booked at the Hotel Bellevue Syrene but being that we will be staying 10 days we now feel that an apartment might be better. Because she might not be completely healed we would like to be close to the center of town and a pool would be a plus.
Any suggestions ?

I'm so sorry about your wife's accident and that you won't be staying at the Bellevue Syrene. It's one of our favorite hotels.
Hope the following sites may help in your search for a rental:
www.villaterrazza.it
parkercompany.com
For General Info:
www.sorrentotourism.it
www.syrene.it
www.sorrentoweb.com
Hope your wife has a speedy recovery. I have no doubt you will both love Sorrento and surrounding areas.

Go to www.sorrentomap.com for info on apartment rentals.
We also loved the Bellevue Syrene. If there's any way you think she could handle a little walking, stick with your original plan even though it will cost a chunk of change. I'm guessing most apartments are not going to be near the center of town (I may be wrong), but I agree with Patrick that finding a ground floor unit or elevator building will be difficult.
If you do find an apartment that sounds appropriate but not near the town center, make sure it's on the town's bus route. That info is also provided on the web site mentioned.

Expect you've probably sorted things out by now, given the excellent advice given by Giovanna. However, couldn't resist offering the following website which is my favourite source of info on Sorrento & Amalfi Coast: www.sorrentoinfo.com
Sorrento centre is a reasonably flat area but to reach either of the marinas you'll need to negotiate quite a few slopes, ramps and steps so I'd suggest you checked out with the owners or agents the actual locations of any potential apartments before booking.
Hope you have a wonderful time! May is a perfect month to be in Sorrento.

I commiserate with you, since I broke my foot 2 weeks before one of our October Italy trips. I was glad to hear that the weather there was terrible anyway. My consolation prize was a long weekend in CANCUN after the walking cast was done with, and I REAALLY appreciated the lovely whirlpool at the hotel to soothe my aching foot after walking. I don't know what the Hotel Bellevue offers, but I would opt for that instead of an apartment if it had a whirlpool or something along those lines.
Enjoy Sorrento!

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's accident! I agree with the other posters, and think that if you can afford it, you're probably better off at a hotel in town. One I would recommend for your consideration is the Hotel Tramontano, which has a medium-sized pool, and is just down the street (and a few minutes closer to Piazza Tasso and the old town) than Bellevue Syrene. If you go, ask for a seaview room. The view over the Bay of Naples is spectacular!
Just had a last thought that maybe some hotels will offer you a discount if you mention your 10-day stay? It's worth a try!
Good luck, and I hope that she heals well and soon.
