Pugsly try this site. You'll find plenty of decent accomaodation at the rate you mention.

That may have been a (lame) attempt at a joke -- but you also said "<i>Probably not much chance of finding something in the 1st, 5th or 6th huh? </i>" and "<i>I had a number of hotels recommended by friends and I checked into them and they were all very expensive. </i>"
You have had MANY posters trying to tell you that OF COURSE you can find great places to stay in any of the central districts well w/i your budget. You are annoyed w/ us -- OK fine. We've given you lots of info you can take or not . . .
