In other words, the predictions were correct.

Out in the country is one thing. In London, it's different. Some snow overnight, mostly not settling; flurries in the air on my way to work (plenty of people obviously taking the opportunity for a long weekend, as there was plenty of room on the tube, which was functioning normally on the bits I use). There is now (1.30pm) a cloudless sky, though it is still cold.

I have thrown my first snowball.

I shall be building a snowman later.

OTOH, here in NE Scotland, there's none.

It'd cold enough to freeze the bollocks off a brass monkey, but no snow to speak of

Brass monkey? Here in Massachusetts it is up to 18 degrees F (-8 celsius) now that the sun has been out a couple of hours. Brass monkeys couldn't live in this climate.

Anyone who places any credence at all in a weather forecast more than a day in advance simply doesn't understand Britain.

But where does this "the 10 day forecast and they're calling for snow" come from anyway?

The Met Office says "Some showers likely to fall as sleet or snow" in the north and east of Britain. Which is a million light years away from saying snow will fall and stick in London.

On the basis of the evidence available right now, your chances of finding snow on the ground in London in 10 days' time are virtually zero. And the only thing you can say for certain about changes between now and then is that the forecast will be different in 10 dsays' time

Snow in Spain,>>>

The snow in Spain
falls mainly on the Plain.

Doesn't work does it?

In the words of Led Zeppelin: "Your Time is gonna Come"

>>>>>Brass monkeys couldn't live in this climate.>>>

They certainly couldn't breed.

Heidelberg, here. Yesterday I left for my usual 30-40 minute drive to work on a feeder road at 6:45 am...got there at 9:15! It wasn't the snow, of which there was a dusting, so much as the black ice. It was so miserable that even those "speedy" Germans were pulling off the road.

Today that is gone, butsnow flakes are coming down and it's pretty darn cold. A day or two of this to put you is the Holiday spirit is ok as long as you don't have to travel

The brass monkeys here are all desperately in need of welders.

Is it time to start up the debate about the origin of the brass monkeys phrase?

Again.

MX5s (rwd) really really do not like icy slushy roads - it took me 5 minutes to get the car up a 300m slope this evening. Meanwhile buses, old ladies and learners drivers sailed happily past wondering what on earth I was doing floundering around like a stranded whale.

I scooted up that same piece of road this morning pretty much as normal so not sure what went wrong as no more snow has fallen.

Maybe there were brass monkeys in front of the car stopping me going forward .............

It's the same for my MR2.

And not helped by impatient f***wits who tailgate you at a distance of about 18 inches, as if to say 'COME ON!!!! It's PERFECTLY safe to do 70mph down this country lane on black ice!!!'

Well you did both buy a hairdressers car.

CW - is getting this for Christmas from himself:

And has bankrupted himself in the process so is now very open to bribery.

Is it due soon? Better hope the roads are free of ice.

At least you get more than 2 seats for your money!

Yeah you get four, but they cost £12.5k each!

In fact I could flog the thing for more than I paid for it such is the demand.

4?? You could buy my "hairdresser's" car for the price of one and a half seats.

Maybe you should just sell it and buy a MX5 (great snow car, btw) with the profit.

How many seats do you need??
