Is Strasbourg a must see? I've never been to Alsace, but I have been to many places in Germany and I'd imagine the architecture would be similar if not the same.

I'd like to hear from people who have been to Strasbourg.

I don't really think any place is a must see if you don't have time, except some major capitals, probably.

I enjoyed Strasbourg for a few days, but it wasn't my favorite city. It has several things of interest, but nothing so extraordinary your life will not be the same having seen it. I'm not crazy about Alsacienne cuisine, for one thing.

We loved Strasbourg - and it is France, not Germany (really a combo of both).

Agree nothing is a must see. Some people go to Italy and avoid Rome - which I don;t get - but each his own.

Have you looked at a guide book to see what's there?

Opps, I now realize how badly I worded the op. Yes, I am aware that Alsace is in France. I always think of it as the bit of France with German influence. Thank goodness, I tagged this as France otherwise I'd sound like a real idiot.

I have read a guide book and what appeals the most is the architecture.

We loved not just the quaint old part of the town and cathedral.musem but the fine folk museum and also the canals of charming Petite Venice area.

I consider Strasbourg to be a must, and it is extremely different from Germany.

Strasbourg has wonderful bike paths, some great ww1 and pre ww1 fortifications and a central area to die for. Never seen anything quiet as middle aged in Germany before but I'm not sure how much of it is really old (just don't know) and of course the wine is different though the food is similar to that across the Rhine. The canals are complcated

For me it is a place to pass through and enjoy for a few hours but certainly not German as in Modern Germany
