Six Nations Rugby Tickets
Hi all,
I was just writing to ask if anyone knew what the best way to go about finding six nations rugby tickets would be. I'm spending about six months in Oxford, and I was looking to go to a game at Twickenham or (maybe) in France. Any ideas? I've been searching around online but the prices are absolutely insane. I was wondering specifically if it would be possible to camp out anywhere for tickets? Thanks!

I'm afraid there isn't a cheap option, as every bloke in England wants tickets. I think you'll have to settle for watching it down the pub like the rest of us.
Alternatively, you can buy tickets for games such as Scotland vs Wales (in Edinburgh) for under £100, and believe me, that's NOT expensive.

You'd be better off trying to get tickets for the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, which isn't much further from Oxford than London is. My understanding is that most tickets have always been sold in advance to rugby clubs only, with some diverted to hospitality packages with subsequent mark-ups. But last year the Welsh RU decided to advertise tickets for some of the less popular matches (against Scotland & Italy last year, I think) for sale to the general public several months in advance. Have a look at their website, www.wru.co.uk, although I don't suppose there'll be any info about next year yet. (I'm assuming you're talking about next year & not the current campaign ?) The Millennium stadium is quite new and fairly spectacular & I'm sure a game there would be incredibly atmospheric. The Welsh are of course the best singers !
I've been to matches in Rome & the stadium wasn't full there, so that might be another option, but I'm not sure how you'd buy tickets (mine were through a rugby club).
Or make friends with members of a rugby club in Oxford !

When?
I suggest you consider travelling. If not Wales,(england's at home to Wales next year) then Scotland or Ireland. The SRU sells on line a proprotion of its tickets. But the tickets themselves are daft prices. If you're a student, the cheapest ticket at Murrayfield will be about £10. If an adult £30. Camping out doesn't help.
The reason I ask about when is that the Heineken Cup final is at Murrayfield in May and the tickets are cheaper. Frankly based on the games this season so far, the rugby may be better too

I think the only place you'll get tickets is online of nearly all the matches. Everyone is after tickets.
Thanks caroline for your nice comment about the welsh singing of course I agree with you. I'll be putting my voice to good use on 13th in Murryfield. Looking forward to a great game & the friendly welcome we get when we are there. Good luck to both teams.
