Sites to search for large villa/home rentals

What sites other than booking.com, airbnb.com, homeaway.com, vrbo.com, rentbyowner.com should I search for weekly rentals in Zurich, Munich and Amsterdam? Thank you.

Try Interhome, I believe it's a Swiss company but they have branches all over Europe.

Do understand that many listed properties in Amsterdam are illegal.

Be very careful online, especially with high end vacation rentals. HomeAway and VRBO (essentially the same company) demonstrate in this thread Is there a way to determine if this property is legit? that their listings cannot be trusted. If you do use one of these sites as a source, do not deal directly with the “owner” and look for properties that have a history of reviews.

There also are established local real estate companies in each city that normally handle vacation rentals.

Would love more specific sites or references. I appreciate the warnings too.

You might try www.fewo-direkt.de, which is related to HomeAway.

Hi signmeup,

Due to a housing shortage in Munich, many short-term apartment rentals there are illegal, as in Amsterdam. So I would be very wary using Homeaway or Fewo-Direkt.

There are aparthotels that will have kitchens, etc, that you can look at, using this site from the Munich tourist office:

Have fun as you plan!

In Amsterdam most apartment short stay rentals are illegal. And a crackdown is underway.

Maybe this is something for you in Amsterdam:

Thanks. Ok. We will stay in hotels in Amsterdam. Really need places in Zurich and possibly Munich. THanks! Good warnings about Amsterdam.
