Sicily to Capri- Best method of transportation

I will be taking a holiday to Italy in Sept-Oct 2008. After arriving in Rome, I will fly to Palermo. Later in the week, I have reservations in Capri. What is the best way to reach Capri from Sicily? Is there a direct ferry from Palermo or Messina? Or is Naples the only way to end up in Capri if moving by boat? Does anyone know if there is an overnight train to Salerno and then a hydrofoil to Capri?
I have done my best to research the train and hydrofoil schedules, but would appreciate any suggestions by those having made this trek before. Thank you.

There are overnight ships from Palermo to Napoli (www.tirrenia.it and www.snav.it). It's a very short walk along the quay in Napoli to Molo Beverello where you can catch a boat to Capri. The overnight ships from Sicily would be far too big to use the harbour at Capri.
