Sicily in 11 Days - Italy

We're going to Sicily on our honeymoon, and will have about 11 days to explore the island. Here is our tentative itinerary - please tell me if it sounds reasonable:

Catania/Taormina - 4 nights
Enna - 1 night
Palermo/Cefalu - 2 nights
Lipari - 4 nights

We'll be traveling in a circle:
Catania to Enna
Enna to Palermo
Palermo to Cefalu
Cefalu to Lipari
Lipari to Taormina
Taormina to Catania

And, is it worth it to stay overnight in Enna and Cefalu?
Wow--sounds good to me. Can I go along and just stay out of the way. I predict that Taormina and Lipari will be the highlights. Good luck !

I wish I could have seen more on my recent trip. Sounds good to me. Taormina is lovely. If you like mosaics, try to go to Villa Casale in Piazza Armerina. Have a great trip. Kay

Good itinerary. Of course, by placing the emphasis on Taormina and Lipari (good locations for honeymooners), you are missing out on the cultural sites of Siracusa and Agrigento. You'll have to return some other time.

Thanks for the comments! Is Cefalu worth staying 1 night? That would only leave us 1 night in Palermo . . . Or should we stay 2 nights in Palermo and just pass through Cefalu on our way to Milazzo?

If you've time, a day and/or night in Erice would be lovely. Abvout 60 miles from palermo airport. Very narrow cobblestone streets, on a mountain top, with great views to the sea. So interesting at night, almost eerie. Do not miss Selnunte and Agrigento, and Ortygia near Siracusa.

You don't need the night in Cefalu. Two hours is all you need to see the town and its Cathedral. Devote more time to Palermo and Monreale.

When are you going on your Honeymoon? I will be in Cefalu for 2 nights the end of August, so I could report back to you. Where are you staying in Taormina? I'll let you know how that is also.

Michelle -

We'll be in Sicily 10/15 - 10/26 . Looks like we may just pass through Cefalu on our way to Milazzo. And we may decide to sleep in Giardini since it is less expensive than Taormina (but we intend on touring Taormina during the day ) . . . Hope you have a great time on your trip. I'd love to hear how it goes . . .
