Sicily: Hotel Alceste
Sicily: After reading some nice reviews of the Hotel Alceste in Selinunte, I have tried to email them to make reservations but have had no response. I used the email address listed on their site which is the same as the one mentioned on this forum. Did you have problems? Do I just need to be more patient, or try calling them? Supposedly, it is open all year.
I have re-posted this because I did not put the word "Sicily" in the text and therefore the message does not appear when a search for "Sicily" is queried.

We stayed there last summer. I reserved through this website:

I also emailed them directly at [email protected]
I don't recall how long it took them to get back to me, but not so long that I was worried. The hotel is quite nice, location is very good, and we had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was also pretty good. I'd stay there again.

I don't know anything about this hotel. However, I suggest calling. It has been my experience that some hotels have e-mail because it's a flashy new thing, but they don't actually use it. Or, they may have e-mail, but not have a computer, so they don't get around to checking it often.

evelyntrav - wow, that's really surprising. The hotel was quite new and well kept up. Also fairly large and was pretty full when we were there. Definitly did not look like the kind of place that was about to close down. Are you sure it's not just for the winter or something. I'd even be surprised that it closed in winter, although the town is really a beach town so I guess everything might close. But then where would people stay visiting the temples. Oh well, good luck finding something else.

Isabel, that is what the man said who answered the phone. He did not speak English well, and we spoke to him in really bad French. The website says they are open all year. I'll keep trying the online reservation system. Meanwhile, the Hotel Garzia has not responded either. This is for April so I have some time. All our other reservations are made and I'd really like to cross this one off of our "to do" list. I'll let you know if I ever get through to them.
