Looking for advice to find venues for this kind of traditional Bavarian dance while visiting Bavaria next summer.
Not looking for the real "touristy" type places and would prefer to avoid Munich. What should I look for when doing internet searches? So far I've found dozens of clubs in the USA, not quite ehat I had in mind.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here's one of my favorite places in Berchtesgaden -
"At the Berchtesgaden Hofbräuhaus (Braustüberl) locals show up in alpine dress, the band gears up, and the evening is divided up with several different events from dancing, yodeling, and if you are lucky there is usually a group of hearty souls with large axes who put on a log chopping show." (from my buddies trip report -

Ben,
You really nailed this one! Berchtesgaden is on the itinerary and this will add greatly to the worthiness of the stop, maybe add an additional day there.
How far outside Berchestgaden is the Unterklapflehen? We'll travel exclusively by train but aren't afraid to hike a km or two. Perhaps getting off in Bischofswiesen or Freilassing is in order?

The bus from Berchtesgaden to Maria Gern takes 23 minutes. Short walk from there to the Unterklapflehen (which is an excellent farm accommodation) - http://www.bensbauernhof.com/unterkl...mariagern.html

Thanks Ben. Fairly certain that is where we'll stay.
How about bus service BACK into town for the Berchtesgaden Hofbräuhaus and just hanging out in town? Frequency? Hours? We may base our Salzburg visit there as well so will need to return to Bahnhof for the bus to Salzburg and other attraction in the area.
And a recommendation for the Cochem area? We're planning this to be our first stop from airport and maybe spend an additional night (total 2) there. Remember, we're traveling exclusively by train.

Buses from Maria Gern to Berchtesgaden run about once an hour throughout the day. Exact times can be found here - http://bahn.hafas.de//bin/query.exe/en
I traveled by train and bus last year and stayed at the Haus Andreas in Cochem. Very nice hostess and the accommodations excellent - http://www.bensbauernhof.com/hausand...chemmosel.html
