short trip from Munich to Berlin

I am going on a 3 day trip and will be driving.
Arrive in Munich in March on friday evening and leave 4 days later in Berlin.
What would be a good way to drive to Berlin and stop in some interesting cities, maybe stay one night in between.
Thanks for your help. Also any help places to stay or where to eat would be great.
Thanks !

Hi smardie,

do I understand that you want to see Munich where you are starting, and Berlin, where you are ending, and places in between, all in 3 days????

IMO, you have time to do one only. Munich OR Berlin. fly or train between them.

for driving distances and times, see www.viamichelin.com. it's a long way.

regards, ann

Our plan was to start in Munich and then drive to Berlin.
We get into Munich March 6th at 8pm and we stay friday night nad most the day saturday in Munich and then head to Berlin.
I am going with someone who is picking up a car and he wants to drive it.
Is it a 6 hour drive to Berlin ?
Is it not worth it to stop along the way. I wish we had a longer time, but we don't.

Driving time will be six hours.

On the way, you have these options for shorter or longer stops:

- Nürnberg (just one hour north of München, right on the way): beautiful old town, castle and museum.

- Weimar (classical city), Erfurt (medieval old town, with a bridge that is covered with half-timbered buildings) and Eisenach (gorgeous castle, where Luther translated the bible). This requires a detour from your route but should be very rewarding. You might stay overnight in any of these towns (Erfurt would be a good idea).

- Dessau, the place of the Bauhaus, where modern architecture originated.
