General shopping hours throughout Switzerland at weekend are 8.30 or 9 am to 12 noon (some shops open to 5pm) and closed all day Sunday. Sunday closing is sacrosanct and there are few exceptions, such as those at train stations, airports, attached to service stations and a few souvenir shops (but most of them are closed).

Throughout Switzerland? Where did you get that? Or perhaps you meant "shopping hours" when people do their weekend shopping and not actual opening hours? I live in Geneva and most (not some) shops are open till 17:00 and actually some till 18:00 like a few big Coop & Migros supermarkets.
It seems a big stores such as Globus (department stores) and Bucherer (watches, expensive ones to Swatches) in Lucerne are open till 16:00 and I suppose many follow that.
You are right about Sunday though.

Thursday and Friday 9 am - 9 pm

Sunday In summer a few shops open at 11 am.

Ok great. Phew! I just booked a weekend trip to Lucerne and was concerned that everything would be closed. Not that I plan to spend a ton of time shopping, but I like to have it as an option. Thanks for all the help!
