Shopping Recommendations in Rome

Hi listmates, we leave for Rome in the morning. While we have a few different power converters in our stash accumulated over the years, I have been unable to find one that will accommodate my (hair) flat iron, which is a low 75W. Can anyone recommend to me:

a) a store in Rome that would very likely carry different types of power converters?

b) a store in Rome that would have a low-cost flat iron? It wouldn't need to be great quality, just work long enough to get me through six weeks.

or

c) a store here in the US where you know for SURE they carry a more universal converter...DH says that there is one out there that would encompass a larger range of wattages but we simply don't have the time to look today.

I don't know if my electrical terminology is exactly correct, but hopefully you will understand what I'm talking about Oh, and we are staying in Centro Storico so anything nearby would be helpful, but I'm willing to trek a little too.

Thank you!
ET

Even with the proper converter, it is very likely that your flat iron will not perform very well and over the long run will probably be damaged. It is very likely that you could find a converter in Rome and if so it would be expensive because there would be almost no demand for that type of converter.

Therefore, you smartest move would be to buy one after you arrival in Rome. They will be everywhere from drug stores, to hardware to hair supply. And it will work perfectly for this trip and future trips. A second option would be to visit any local store, especially a travel related store, and look for a dual voltage unit.

The "centro storico" covers a lot of ground.

The simplest thing to do is just ask at your hotel the nearest place to buy one.

I didn't want to say, "we're staying near P. Navona" and make it seem as though I only wanted a recommendation for a store near P. Navona.

I will take both of your advice and ask the owner of our flat upon check in. Many thanks-ET

I recall there being a good sized discount home goods/beauty products supply store around these coordinates in the Jewish Ghetto

41.893089,12.477043

You can plug those coordinates into google maps and see the location. I'm not sure if it was exactly there, but definitely close by and in the pedestrian only zone.

They carried lots of household items - can't say I recall a flatiron as I wasn't looking for one.

There are lots of small electronics stores around - you may need to poke you head in a few to find what you're looking for.
