Shopping in St. Remy and Nice

I will be in St. Remy and Nice in Sept. Would love to do some shopping while there - any good ideas? I will be in each place 3 days and like to shop for household, decorative, garden, personal. What is really fun to bring back home? Thanks for your help. Alex

I just got back from St. Remy and they have lots of small, craft type shops. I brought back soap too! They have all sorts of decorative kitchen and household items. You will find plenty of ideas when you get there. Some stores had some particularly nice throw pillow covers and blankets. I was looking for dishes and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I did buy a cotton robe with lavender embroidered on it. Have fun. Kay

I like the lovely cotton Provencal fabrics at Les Olivades and Souleiado shops; they aren't inexpensive, but they "do up" w/o ironing, if laundered "correctly". I have had table linens made from them, and I love them. Souleiado is pricier than Les Olivades. And both places have ready made articles from their fabrics.

Alex,

We regularly vacation in St. Remy.

There is an Olivades "factory" store on the road to Tarascon, about ten minutes by car from St. Remy. Very good buys.

In town, Joel Durand's chocolatier shop
near the main parking lot is well worth a visit. He numbers the chocolates with flavors like lavender, tapenade, etc. Excellent.

The weekly market on Wednesdays is a must for shopping. You can buy lavender soap and many other fine crafts and clothing here. It starts at 8 a.m.

My wife and I will return to St. Remy in September.

Good luck.

JJJ is right about knowing your table dimensions, but keep in mind that in Europe they use the metric system!!!1
