Shopping in Florence

Anybody has any secret spots, looking for leather goods, tell me what you loved about shopping in Venice

There is a street running parallel to the Duomo, one or two blocks in the direction of the river, which has several discount leather stores. One of our traveling companions, who wears a US size 4, purchased 21 pairs of shoes in one store. She said that with the added cost of shipping to the US, she still saved about 2/3.

Regardless of the cost, all 6 of us were impressed with the selection of styles and sizes.

Kind of wish I'd known about that before our trip last year. Mrs. K and I each got things we wanted (ceramics on her list, leather on mine) across the way from the Pitti Palace. I wasn't blown away one way or another with the cost of what I got (a leather laptop bag) but Mrs. K was quite happy with the ceramics she got. I guess we'll just have to compare next time we're there.

your title says Florence and your post Venice.

My favorite leather shop is on Via Pelliceria next to the Old Stove Bar. I have been buying from them for years, they custom make my coats and jackets and though not a bargain with the horrible USD, they are of very good quality and I still wear the black leather trench they made for me 11 years ago.

Cross the Ponte Vecchio to the "other side", and you will find the Madova glove shop on the left. Great selection, prices; www.madova.com

I love the markets in Florence, some of the stalls don't have anything that is of interest. But if you take your time you will find little gems. I have leather gloves and scarves that I bought there. We also found good quality silk ties for a few euros each. That's assuming you mean Florence, not Venice!!
