Leather in Italy
One of the items that I am hoping to purchase in Italy is a nice leather jacket. I will be in Rome, Florence and Venice. Where can I find the nicest leather products in any of the above cities? What should I expect to pay for a nice leather jacker (In US dollars)?

Florence is prabably the best of the three to find leather. There is an open market every day. My daughter bought a jacket at one of the stalls, but when she couldn't find what she wanted they took her to their store right behind the stall. They even shortened the sleeves and changed the buttons. I think she paid around $150. Haven't looked at coats/jackets on our last few trips so I don't know current prices. Hope this helps.

We bought coats at the market in Florence last summer. We got 2 coats for a total of $330. and mine is knee length. The quality is beautiful. I would recommend it. I wish I could remember the name of the shop but there are lots of good places so I'm sure you will find something you like.

I just bought a great leather jacket in Florence on December 30. If you got to the street market right by the Duomo it is huge and there are leather shops all over it. I got my jacket that goes a few inches above my knees for 90 euros, which is $115.20

If you don't mind paying more $ than in the stalls in Florence, there is a small store in Rome called Gerard in the Piazza San Silvestri. They have very high quality merchandise and will do tailoring and even deliver to your hotel. I bought a 3/4 length jacket last May for $300.
