Longchamp is mank?
What, do we have chimneysweeps from Stepney posting here now? What next? A glottal stop? You have been watching one-too-many espisodes of the East Enders, sweetie darling.
Mimi, if you have a copy of the Fashion Suppliment of this Sunday's New York Times, you can take a look at the Salvor bag. It is on page 108. Did you try to google it?
PS We are helping people. What would occur if some hapless, shabby tourist happened upon Joan and Melissa Rivers whilst on holiday and that tourist was so upset by the ridicule they received that they wandered aimlessly into the path of a bus?
We are saving lives and dignity here, Senorita Cosa. Snap.

Well, I DO have a couple of Lonchamp bags for everyday use. The pliage bag is handy for shopping on rainy days, it sheds water and I can just toss things into it (as I did on Saturday, making the rounds on and near the Ave. Louise in Brussels).
Longchamp's Rodeo/4x4 bag (I don't really understand their naming system) has been getting a lot of positive play in Euro fashion mags as the hot new carryon bag. Lots of pockets, nice styling. In suede and leather. Wouldn't mind having one.
I don't make sweeping (and snide) judgements about entire labels or the people who like them. In most labels, I can find one or two bags I really like and one or two that I really don't. I loved a Bally bag from their winter collection, but there's nothing in the spring/summer collection I pine for. I don't normally go for Lancel, but they have a couple of bags that look nifty for the summer. The Smythson Picadilly business bag is perfect for carrying my 12" laptop, but I don't have much use for most of their other bags (they're attractive, but just not suited to my lifestyle). And so on.

Well, I like Longchamp bags and my Parisian friend still carries them. I don't care what anyone says is "in". Frankly some of the new bags would give me a backache, they're so big. Anyway, when I was in Paris last month, my friend told me that she now goes to La Vallee Outlets in Marne-La-Vallee and gets her bags at a discount. Here's the link...

<<Some manufacturers do not allow the 10% (at GL,Printemps, etc.)discount, and I believe that Longchamps is one of them.>>
I bought a black leather LC bag at Galeries Lafayette (2-3 years ago) and got the 10% discount plus the detaxe refund for my total purchases there that day.
One of the reasons I like shopping in G.L is seeing the other brands and making comparisons.
I did buy a nylon hobo in a Longchamps shop in Marseille and it's great for travel, lots of pockets, can wash spots away, lighter than leather with a wide, adjustable shoulder strap.
Also have one of the large fold-up pliages, which is great for packing and using as a shopping bag or for bringing home the laundry.
Margie, have fun shopping!

Wow! Handbags are supposed to be fun, not inspire war (well, that depends...).
Anyway, I personally have a love-hate relationship with many bag makers (woman's perogative to change her mind). Right now, I'm at the border of love-hate with Longchamp. There's the Rodéo and a 4x4 handbag that are both shouting at me, and since I won't be going to Paris anytime soon, I may have to hike over to Saks to check one out in person when I'm feeling better.
Thanks, beaupeep, for posting that link. I've had that link in my bookmark for years, anticipating that trip to Paris one day...
Maybe it's just the lighting in NY that make me cringe at those Pliage bags. I promise to give them another look, but in Paris!
