Shoe shopping in Madrid
DH and I will be in Madrid the first week+ of April. I have my heart set on buying a pair of espadrilles and am looking for suggestions on where to shop. We'll be staying at the Hotel Preciados on Preciados Street 37 if that helps.
Thank you in advance, AnnMarie

For classic, traditional espadrilles (alpargatas) you can go to Antigua Casa Crespo on Divino Pastor 29 in the Malasaña area.

For the updated variety (and other styles), I like Cristina Castañer on Claudio Coello 51 in the Salamanca shopping district.

I know the feeling! If there's something I do know about, it's shoes!!!
Another source, just to tempt you more...O
Casa Hernanz on Calle Toledo 18, (near Plaza Mayor in Old Madrid) with long wooden counter that dates back to the 19th century, owned by the same family for five generations. It's actually a cord shop. Espadrilles hand made.
