Sheepdog trials are more frequently shown on what I suppose in the US would be called the "ethnic" channels than on stations broadcasting in a language anyone actually speaks.

So though TV coverage of trials in Europe's sheep heartland of Yorkshire, East Anglia and the Cotswolds has mostly passed its "only until" dates, you can watch loads if you're prepared to put up with trials in the sheep periphery with commentaries in one of those languages kept alive only by government subsidy

Search "sheepdog, S4C" for trials on the main Welsh-language station (some freely available at http://www.s4c.co.uk/sioe/cgi-bin/20...e&rm=vt&vt=151)

Or "sheepdog, 'BBC Alba'" for trials on the Scottish Gaelic channel. Some of these might be available only through iPlayer technology, which is not usually accessible outside the UK, though other posters might have worked out how to bust the system

Or "sheepdog,tg4.ie" in Irish. Their catchup system seems to work in the UK, so I imagine it works elsewhere

There's even stuff in Ulster-Scots, now a recognised para-language (http://www.bbc.co.uk/ulsterscots/lib...-in-loughguile)

There's doubtless stuff in Lallans (aka "Scots") but I can't find it.

Thanks to all for this information. I'm looking forward to seeing at least one trial when we're in UK in 2014.
