We have 8 nights in early April and am thinking of two nights in Cordoba, four in Seville and two in Granada. In looking at the map Granada is not very close to Seville and Cordoba. Would it be better to save Granada for another trip and spend more time in Seville or a day or two around Seville such as Arcos de la Frontera or another town.

IMHO, no. Do not skip Granada.
It is not as far as it seems and is a major World Heritage site.
You could stop in Cordoba for a few hours on the way from Seville to Granada, or you could also do a day trip from Seville to Cordoba. It is a short, easy train ride.

Four nights in Seville is fine. You could add one and do the day trip to Cordoba.
Two nights in Granada works. You could visit the Alhambra both day and evening.
I probably would not do two nights in Cordoba, but that is very personal. Many people love Cordoba.

Will you have a car for any of the time?

Also agree - do not skip Granada if at all possible. Cordoba is, indeed, great, but Granada is better IMHO.

Into what city are you flying/leaving? This could have a bearing on your decision & route.

Not sure what map you are using but Granada is NOT far from Seville - only about 150 mile by road - a couple of hours.

Stick with your plan. Use trains to travel between the cities. Enjoy!

Thank you for your thoughts. We are flying into Madrid and are thinking of taking the train to Cordoba the first day but could certainly go to Seville instead.
We were not planning on renting a car but can certainly do it for travel to and from Granada.

I traveled to Spain and did your exact itinerary plus Madrid. We flew to Mad and took fast train to Cordoba same day, then on to Seville and then train to Granada (3 1/2-4hrs ish). Then back to Mad for last several days... I also agree-don't change it! All of these cities are all so fantastic and different, and I guarantee you will be blown away by the Alhambra! Also, you don't want/need a car in Granada, but if you drove from Sev you could stop in Ronda which is gorgeous and highly recommended. Buena Suerte and enjoy!

We did 18 days in Spain with Cordoba/Seville/Granada in the middle so to speak. We picked up a rental leaving Seville (easy) because we wanted to drive through the Pueblos Blancos en route to Granada. Driving was easy, Jerez, Arcos & Ronda were wonderful, we stayed overnts in Jerez & Ronda (if you do this, opt for Cadiz rather than Jerez unless the horses are options to see). While the Alhambra was fabulous and is a 'don't miss' we did not love Granada overall; however, you'll need two nights regardless to arrive, take a morning walk around, and schedule your visit ahead of time for the Alhambra. One night would be sufficient for Cordoba, four for Seville, then perhaps you can squeeze a night between Seville & Granada to see the beautiful villages (only accessible by car). The trains were great and easy to navigate; we walked from train station in Cordoba, dropped our luggage and continued to the very near old town. We had two nights but could have seen that in one night.

I don't think the OP has time, but FWIW, one does NOT need a car to visit Ronda.

"ne does NOT need a car to visit Ronda" You do if you want to spend any time in Ronda. The bus and train service are sporadic.

Well, they worked for me! I got there by train from Granada one afternoon and left the next afternoon by bus to Sevilla. In that time, i saw everything I wanted to see in lovely Ronda. YMMV.
