Sept in Paris Weather
We are leaving on Sept 8th for a month in Paris. I've been watching the weather channel, but wondered if anyone in Paris has better insight and a suggestion of what to pack for this trip (light coat, sweaters, warm coat--all of the above?). I'm sure raingear is a "must". Thanks for your thoughts.

I think the 10-day forecast is only really good about two days before you leave, but it does give you some indication about what to put in or leave out of the suitcase.
If you look good in a trench coat (they only look smart on some people) and want to lug it, fine. But I would only do that if the 10-day forecast predicted heavy rain most of the time -- not the norm for the first half of September. Were it me, I would be looking to have a down or fleece vest plus silk underwear for warmth if needed, including turtlenecks, and use umbrellas if and when necessary. I'd probably pack one lightweight waterproof jacket (the kind that folds up into itself) in case of a heavy-rain day.
I don't like sweaters by and large, and I especially don't like them when travelling. I prefer lightweight warm underwear (Winter Silks has great selections.) I like scarves and hats (fleece for lightness of weight).
My only "must" would be waterproof comfortable walking shoes plus flats for dinner.

September is in general a very pleasant month. Not ot hot, not ot cold, not to wet. Normally around 68F. As you can also see on weather.com.
But the weather can be very unpredictable. Especially in Paris. Personally I have had great weather (shorts and shirts) and bad weather (sweaters and raincoats). But normally, it does not get very cold.
So I would not take my wintercoat. But maybe a light weight (waterproof) jacket. Some t-shirts and thin sweaters. Maybe a fleece jacket or something. As mentioned before; layers is the answer!

Thanks for your inputs--they are helpful. I agree--shoes can make or break one's trip. Found the most comfortable right out of the box shoes for walking all over (and I never travel without moleskin just in case of blisters). In 2 weeks we'll be "at home in our apartment (at least for a few weeks) in Paris."
