Very doable - good route - well thought out. You might consider picking up your rental car on 9/26 in order to explore the Black Forest more thoroughly. If it's too late to change that - suggest you at least route yourself along B33 from Offenburg - via Gengenbach - Triberg - Donaueschingen - B31 to Ueberlingen - Meersburg. Since you will be driving straight from Meersburg to Fuessen and plan to visit the Royal Castles that day - suggest you order your interior tour tickets via the Internet ahead of time. That will cut down on any excess waiting time. The drive from Meersburg to Fuessen usually takes me from 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. If you schedule your castle tours for the noon timeframe that will allow you time to visit the Wieskirche that afternoon as you drive on to Garmisch. Time permitting you could also visit Oberammergau as you will drive right by it - if you take the Fuessen - Steingaden - Echelsbacher Bruecke - Oberammergau - Garmisch-Partenkirchen route. Adding Linderhof that day might be pushing it. The Zugspitze (if you intend to visit the top) and Linderhof can be done the second day. From Salzburg to Rothenburg o.d.T. is a lengthy drive - but Autobahn most of the way. Suggest you take a few hours to visit Herrenchiemsee since you will be driving right by there. That would enable you to have viewed four of the castles/estates associated with King Ludwig II. All else looks good. Get an early start the day you leave Rothenburg so as to maximize your time along the Rhine and Mosel. Good overall plan - I would do it in a heartbeat. Have driven same route and reverse route many times. I just don't start in Paris. Ben

My only suggestion would be that when you tour Oberammergau itself..easily walkable...don;t miss the interior of the the RC church which is a little masterpiece of baroque adornment.
Consider touring the Hellbrun "wasserspiele" in Salzburg.
Enjoy your trip.

OBERAMMERGAU: Just do me a favor. Stop at the WOLF HOTEL in the afternoon and ask for the strudel. I do it each trip. Nice break after shopping Kathe Wolfarths. You gotta do what you gotta do! WOLF is easy to find on the main street.
