From Frommer's:
<i>"Laundry/Dry Cleaning -- One of the best and most centrally located of Zurich's self-service laundries is Wäscherei TBTV, Dienerstrasse 70 (tel. 043/243-80-73). A dry-cleaning service is also on-site."</i>
Checking google maps, it doesn't look far from the hbf.
Happy travels!

Searching the web in German yields these that looks promising:
Lea's Waschhaus, Sihlfeldstrasse 88
Express Wäscherei, Winterthurerstrasse 62
Not entirely clear if both really are the kind of self-service establishment that Americans are used to.
It is very much not a Swiss thing - the Swiss have their own washers and dryers, and if they live in an apartment building, there is usually a shared set down in the basement and there are strict rules as to who washes when and how to keep things clean etc. - very regimented.
If one or both of the above really are what you expect them to be, don't rely on them being open late.

And another thing - the machines they use simply don't have a short cycle. I couldn't believe how thoroughly these machines want to wash - when I was asked what kind of wash I wanted (by the people I was staying with) I said a ten-minute warm with cold rinse and was told "can't be done" - it would take at least 45 minutes on the shortest cycle. So don't be in a hurry...

That's so true Dalai, I think everything takes longer because all the washers in Switzerland are the slow water saving vertical drum type, so it really takes forever! Bring your lap top so you can surf on Fodors while waiting...
