The bus schedule changes went into effect on September 2nd. Here is the site that explains what maps from before and after: LINK Note some lines like 98 and 99 have been dropped completely. Some popular ones, like the 400 to St Paul de Vence, no longer start in the center but at Parc Phoenix (with the tram as the connection). Another warning, Google Maps has not yet been updated with the changes (the Lignes d'Azur app and moovit have been updated)

@pepper_von_snoot - The local bus is still available by walking out to the Promenade, but the Airport Express with the extra luggage racks has been discontinued. A side, there is also a temporary night service in place on M to Th until further notice, while the tram work is completed.

Hi Karen Woo. I just returned from a 2 night stay at the Hotel Grimaldi in Nice. I found it neither funky or charming, but extremely well located. I had a superior double, room 67, which was drab, but large and clean. It had a huge bathroom with a walk in shower (very slippery!) and a separate tub, with an entirely separate room for the wc! It also had a great view of the church and beyond. The breakfast buffet is fine; pretty much the same as you get in other similar hotels. The best part of eating breakfast at the hotel, in my opinion, is unlimited coffee! The front desk staff was very helpful.

Maybe you are travelling at a busier time, but I paid much less than you were quoted, with breakfast included. You might consider periodically checking back to see if their rates drop.

May I ask where you have booked in St. Remy?

iregeo2, thank you so much for your detailed description of your room. I really appreciate it. I am happy to hear that your room was large and clean with a huge bathroom, and that the hotel is extremely well located. I am disappointed to hear, though, that your room was drab. The rooms they show online look beautiful! Isn't that always the case? They show their best rooms. So it looks like not all the rooms are as nice as the ones on their website. We will be there starting May 3 for 5 nights.

In St. Remy, we are staying at the Le Petit Hotel. Have you stayed there?

Hi Karen Woo. No, I haven't stayed at that hotel in St. Remy. We just stayed at Hotel Gounod. I found it very charming! I would definitely stay there again. I had a small room on the garden, which was so lovely. I will try to do a trip report and post photos of the garden. The bar/breakfast room was also wonderful (very civilized) with a lovely breakfast offered at an additional price, though expensive at 15 euros.

Karen Woo, regarding the Grimaldi, I had asked for a room with the best view, and the view was lovely. However, there are 2 of sets of rooms, with a front elevator and a back elevator. Mine was accessed through the back, named for the church across the street. Perhaps the rooms in the front are renovated? My room looked nothing like those on the website! Maybe that's why it was cheap.

What a nightmare. That 99 bus was so convenient. It was 6 euros in 2016.

I hope you are right that the rooms in the front are renovated! I made my decision based on the photos!! Hopefully, it's not false advertising. It does sound like the Grimaldi does have other good qualities, though. And being well-located is very important to us.

I remember our room at the Grimaldi was on the side facing the church. It was a lovely room, bright in yellow & white decor. Bathroom was great, with white marble, I think. Lobby was very nice, as was the breakfast room. I saw absolutely nothing “drab“ about the Grimaldi. This was a few years ago, but still.

MoBro, good to know that your room was not drab. Maybe it was the particular room that iregeo2 stayed in.
