Seeking advice for 4 days on French and Italian Rivieras

In July, we are planning 4 days in Paris and will have 4 more days at our disposal (most likely we will be using easyjet to go to either Pisa or Nice, whichever makes more sense for our ultimate purposes) before we go to Florence.

As we want to experience a bit more of France and/or the Italian Riviera, we are looking for any assistance and advice.

We were originally hopeful of reasonably-priced resort-style hotels with sandy beaches (as we found on Mykonos - by the way, THE MYKONOS GRAND IS SPECTACULAR!), but now find that this type of beach and/or accomodationmay not be easily available in these locations.

We are therefore looking for some guidance on how to best and memorably enjoy this 4-day interval.

Many thanks.

I just returned from a Med. Cruise and visited both the Italian and French Riviera. We LOVED Italy. Definately go for Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi Coast--beautiful. Also, we found the people in Italy to be soooo much nicer than France.

The Amalfi coast is not very convenient for your plans.

I spent a lovely long weekend on the Italian Riviera last summmer. Santa Margherita Ligure is a great spot. And this is a quick ride to Florence which is always my home base in Italy.

We spent 4 days in Paris and 4 days in Nice three weeks ago. We always enjoy Paris but had never been to Nice. We really enjoyed the "old town" area and the beach. I would love to go back again. We stayed at Hotel Harvey. It was only a short walk to the beach. Nice is a lovely combination of France and Italy which we love! Let me know if you want more specific information.

Sory, I forgot to add that we also used Easy Jet and the experience was great!

Nice is wonderful, but it doesn't have sandy beaches. You might want to check out hotels in Juan-les-Pins, which is a resort town very close to Cannes. It has a sandy beach, but I don't know of any hotels there to recommend. Maybe you can post again with Juan-les-Pins in the title for more responses or check the search function.

By the way, the beaches on the Italian RIveria are similar to those around Nice-- pebbbly and not very wide. I seem to remember that there are some nice beaches south of Pisa, but I'm blanking on what the area's called.

Good luck with your search!
