Seeing Athens in a day and a half
Coming off a cruise, we will have a day and a half to explore Athens. We're staying in the Plaka area. What should be our plan of attack. I was in Athens 38 years ago and my husband has never been, so we basically have a blank slate to work with. How about suggestions for two wonderful and atmospheric dinners?

Here are what we enjoyed:
o National Archaeological Museum – they just refurbished it, and it’s amazing!
o Syntagma Square Metro Station – they have really interesting archaeological displays from when they were digging up /building the subway system.
o We would have liked to see a performance at the Theater of Herodaticus, but nothing appealing was showing on the days we were there.
o Sounion – try to plan it so you get there at sunset. It’s breathtaking. But don’t go on a Fri or Sun afternoon—too much traffic.
o Obviously: the Acropolis (consider climbing up in the early morning) and walking/shopping thru the Plaka area are not to be missed.
Have fun!
