Secret tour of Doge's palace (Venice)

Our family (with 10, 12 year old) is headed to Italy in 2 weeks. I have read that the secret tour of the Doge's palace is something that the kids would enjoy. Does anyone know how to go about reserving a tour (in English)?

Janet, this is something I am interested in also. If you get an answer, would you be so kind as to email me with instructions at [email protected]. Thanks!

You can go to the palace yourself & reserve for the tour ahead of time. I think there are 2 English tours a day. You might also ask your hotel to reserve for you. There may be a way to do it by email but can't remember. Try doing a text search here- doges palace AND secret itinerary- there might be some info in another thread.

as far as I know you can't do it by email, but as mentioned your hotel would be happy to do it a day or two in advance
The Secret tour is a small group, and goes into the prisons, torture chamber, and Casanova's cell and describes his famous escape. It will help both kids and adults to be more interested if they do just a bit of reading about
Casanova--he was more than just a famous lover, he was also a famous escapee.

I believe that this phone number is still good. They speak excellent English and are very helpful:
041-520-9070. Tickets were around Euro 12.50 and the tours in English are at 10:00 and 11:30.
One other wonderful place to visit (particularly with children) is the Museum at the Arsenale in Venice. it's open only until 1pm (Mon- Fri I think). it has a fascinating display of models and boat building techniques as well as the whole of Venice's seafaring history.
