Have you looked for the book Bed and Blessings? If there is a convent guesthouse in Lucca, that will probably have the info. For convents in other nearby cities, look here:

Two weeks ago, I stayed in Affittacamere San Frediano, on Via degli Angeli in Lucca (email: [email protected]) and paid only 55 euros for a double room with bath. I highly recommend the place, it was central and the staff was very friendly. (They are located in the north part of Lucca, near the San Frediano "porta" or city gate).

This is a small hotel in the center of Lucca. Some rooms have a private bath and others share. A double with bath is 80.00 Euros. I stayed there two years ago and it was very simple, but fine and with a great location.
