I honestly do not notice what other people are wearing when I go for a meal, the food, the company, the staff yes but what they are wearing at the next table? No, unless it is someone wearing way too much perfume. That is rude and inconsiderate to fellow diners.
I think the pandemic has made people behave differently. People don't get dressed up as much now, and seem a lot more entitled and aggressive and self centred generally.
I read today that the Maltings in York is up for sale. The landlord has strict rules and people just are just getting more annoyed and aggressive because of them, even though the majority of people are very happy with the way he runs the pub.

I think you've read enough of my posts over the years that you know very well I dine for the food and my life is far from a miserable existence.

If someone is really dressed up, obviously for a special occasion I may look up and wonder if I'm going to see a proposal that night.
But other than that? No.

I certainly agree with the entitled, aggressive, self-centered bit. I'd hoped the pandemic would make people more thankful and gracious, but the opposite seems to have happened. Take that brawl in Alabama yesterday...wtf?
I've never been much for dressing up, but there's a difference between being presentable and being a slob. Unfortunately, a lot of people are unapologetic slobs.

My office window faced the front entrance of the George V and the Prince de Galles for 20 years. Believe me, a lot of those rich people absolutely love to go slumming. After all, most of them have to dress up for their normal lives and they absolutely adore wearing crap when they're on vacation. I still remember the shop window of Francesco Smalto a block away which had torn jeans for 780 euros. For some of these people, dressing that way can be camouflage, too. I always thought it is a good thing that the doormen at those hotels are professional physionomists. Not only do they recognize their own customers wearing rags, but they also recognize 'poorly dressed' rich unknowns walking in for the first time, just because those people walk differently and don't look like scared birds like the normal tourists thinking they are sneaking in to snap a few photos of a different world.

"I shall wear the bottoms of my white flannel trousers rolled.".... Lol, Basie. Do you dare to eat a peach?!
BC, some of the nicest people post on 'What's For Dinner' in the Lounge. Sorry to disappoint. As for dressing appropriately, as long as they aren't entitled loud mouths, I don't care what they wear.

Let the multitudes wear what they will as long as they don’t talk in a roar on their d———d cell phones!
