Scottish National Museum of Rural Life

Anyone visited? If so, is it worth a visit if we have to go around two hours out of our way to see?

Thanks

Generally, you're hard-pressed to find a museum worth that kind of extra time expenditure.

Russ--have you visited the Museum?

I'm trying to decide whether to drive south of Glasgow a little bit to see this museum and perhaps the Weavers House before going on to Inverary, or to drive through the Trossachs.

Maybe the Auchindrain Highland Farm Township just outside Inverary would be a better choice for someone who really likes open air farm museums?

It isn't just the 'two hours out of your way'. It isn't a mere detour - GLA > the museum to Inveraray is about a 3 hour drive. But the Museum plus Weavers House plus the extra driving would take ALL day long.

For your itinerary Auchindrain makes MUCH more sense. Not the same sort of attraction but interesting in its own right.

Great except I tore my ACL two days in so walking is a total bee-atch

Got a cane and an ace bandage and have a doctors appt the day after I get home.

Oh no! Hope it doesn't slow you down too much.

BTW--on one trip, spent most of one afternoon at the Port of Callao sitting on a bench on the breakwater and watching the fishermen. Lovely way to spend a day. But you'd probably not want to stick around until nite.
