The book is written by a guy called Peter Irvine. It's not a standard guide book. It identifies things, rather than places. So you get "best places to walk" "best hotels in Edinburgh" "best mountains" "Best stone circles".
It does cross refer to places, but it's really not like any other guide book you've ever seen.

Just stumbled across this while pursuing info on a France trip. Wanted to thank Sheila for all her help last year prior to our wonderful ten day trip to Scotland--with only one rainy day--happened to be on our trip to Isle of Skye but, in the positive end, gave us a chance to know a little of Scotland in the mist---well, thick mist.
