topping just in case

Anyone interested should definitely jump at Sheila's offer. I'm on my 3rd dogeared copy and it's the first place to check when looking for info re Scotland. A GREAT resource . . . . . .

Who is the author?

Thanks

darn it Sheila, another book I gotta go out and buy. it never ends...

sheila Jan 23rd, 2005 08:31 AM

The book is written by a guy called Peter Irvine. It's not a standard guide book. It identifies things, rather than places. So you get "best places to walk" "best hotels in Edinburgh" "best mountains" "Best stone circles".

It does cross refer to places, but it's really not like any other guide book you've ever seen.

Sheila - what edition did you just buy of "Scotland the Best"? Amazon.com was published in December 2003. Is that the latest edition?

I just have to say I am thoroughly enjoying this book! We are trying to plan a return trip, but oh my, there is just so much we want to see and this book is tempting us with all of it!

Just stumbled across this while pursuing info on a France trip. Wanted to thank Sheila for all her help last year prior to our wonderful ten day trip to Scotland--with only one rainy day--happened to be on our trip to Isle of Skye but, in the positive end, gave us a chance to know a little of Scotland in the mist---well, thick mist. Thanks again Sheila

If I could control the weather, I would be a) rich b) not at work on a Sunday (again) and c) not looking at a covering of snow in temperatures of -2 degrees:(
