Pt Petersburg or Prague?

We are in our early 50"s & planning our 1st trip to Europe and have the chance of free accommodation in Denmark and therefore will be using it as our base. On our list is Amsterdam, Leiden, Ypres (for ANZAC day), Brugge, Norwegian Coastal Voyage, Bergen to Stockholm by train and of course a good look at Denmark. We then have the choice of visiting Prague or St Petersburg, we like museums, gardens, interesting architecture, walking. Which one would you choice - we only have time to visit one or the other.
Many thanks.

Two great choices. I personally would pick St. Petersburg.....but I'm a sucker for Russia. It has eerything you are interested in! Fabulous museums, architecture that is just amazing, and very easy to walk around.

One thing you might want to think about is that you will have to get a VISA to get into Russia where you do not need to deal with that to get to Prague.

Also enjoy your stay in Denmark. Its a wonderful, charming and friendly country and great base for the places on your list!

I would pick St. Petersburg, if only for its world class Hermitage.

Tough choice, but having been to both places I would choose St. Petersburg.

I would go for Prague. I love St Pet - have been twice and look forward to going again. But while Prague is smaller it is IMHO much more accessible, friendlier, beautiful and probably a good deal less expensive. On an indpenendt basis I would save St pet for a second trip.

Thank you all so much for your helpful replies, it still doesn't make the choice any easier!! BUT nytraveler you have summed up my feelings at present. And I am sure we will just love our time in Denmark - from Svendborg to Skagen and all in between.
Thanks again for taking the time.
