Scotland-only 5 days:best places to go?
Hello,
We have never been to Scotland. We are flying into Ediburgh and there for only 5 days. Could anyone recommend the most dramatic and special places to see? Any very special romatic B&B's in Edinburgh or anywhere else that stands out? Thank you.

Sorry, we do not have any information about Scotland. We are flying into Edinburgh and we are completely flexible. We are only here for 5 days and then flying back out again to New York. We like beauty, not big crowds, water/ocean, good food, scenery. I am sorry to be vague, we just do not know what to expect from Scotland. Thank you.

Hello Seavakaur - I would suggest you spend the first two nights in Edinburgh - the hotel sugestions will depend on your budget and whether or not you are brining children - ut I woud say stay close to the main two roads - Royal Mile or Princes street. If you like water and dramatic views I would suggest St. Andrews - about an hour outside of Edinburgh, charming, small and still relatively untouched despite the arrival of Il Principe......for larger hotels the Old Course of th eay hotel is hard to neat - for a more 'quaint' experience the Russacks hotel off of the 18th green has all the british chintz you would want in a hotel. St. Andrews is the home of golf, the seat of the oldest unviversity in Scotland (1401) and very dramatically perched aove cliffs along the north sea. The beach was the setting for the opening of Chariots of Fire (now I am dating myself....) and has a few sights to see - a ruined castle stayed in by mary queen of scots, a hollowed out cthderal burned to the ground by henry VIII, loads of gorgeous views and several 'quaint' pubs and restaurants to visit. Have a pint at the jigger inn on the golf course by a roaring fire. You can really get a feel for the place in two days as its tiny. hope this helps! there are several tourist sights for st. andrews - do a search - good luck!
