Scenic spots from Granada to Madrid?
I am traveling to Spain for the first time and will be arriving in Madrid then visiting Córdoba for two days and stopping on the way at toledo (if there's time) and then heading to Granada for two nights. I have two days left which I have not planned. I am very fond of nature and would really like to see some mountainous views and breathtaking spots, should I stay in Granada and explore the nature around it (such as Sierra Nevada and las alpujarras) or are there any spots between Granada and Madrid, not too far from Madrid where I have to head back to travel, which I can visit?
The nature in Ronda caught my eye however there is a six hours drive between it and Madrid. What are some must see gorgeous view cities/ towns/ mountains? Any recommendations of scenic places for day trips/ one night stays which would fullfill my nature cravings?

going by train? Should if just visiting big cities on a short time frame. Maybe rent a car for a day around Granada where the mountains are neat. If trains booking tickets way early at Renfe for discounted fares - www.seat61.com has amazing info on doing that - general rail info like where to go www.ricksteves.com and BETS-European Rail Experts.

Madrid to Granada
Since you're planning on driving, and what to see some of the countryside, head down to Albacete, then to Riópar, Siles, Torres de Albánchez or the ancient village of Sierra de Segura in the Sierra de Seguras for the night. The Sierra de Seguras and Sierra de Cazorla are the sorce of the Río Guadalquivir and Río Segura, two of Spain's most important rivers, and some of the wildest landscapes in Spain. The next day you can drive to Ùbeda and onto Granada.

The most attractive scenery is closest to your departure point in the south.
Most of La Mancha region, which extends for a long way south of Madrid is flat plain with few remarkable features.
Ubeda, Baeza and Jaen are celebrated for their architecture and have great charm as well.
I was completely riveted by Calatrava la Vieja, the ruined Moorish city/ archaeological site just NE of Ciudad Real.
We were almost alone there and found the atmosphere spellbinding. It is well worth a small detour.
