Scavi Tour Question--never before asked???
We have Scavi Tour tickets confirmed for December 13. Does anyone know if the tour includes the newly unveiled Via Triumphalis Necropolis or does that require a separate reservation? Thank you in advance.

It requires a separate reservation - and tours are only conducted in Italian on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you search here using the words 'Via Triumphalis Necropolis' you will find all the info you need to email for a reservation.

Update: This morning I received confirmation for the Roman Necropolis tour, Via Triumphalis, in English. This is contrary to everything I had read about the tour being conducted in Italian only. Per person, admission fee is 5 euro; guide fee, 3 euro.

Well done for getting this tour, Ann Marie. Lucky you!
Seems to me like maybe they have had so much demand for tours in English that they have now got an English speaking guide.
I got a place on this tour back in October in the week they first started but due to other pre-booked arrangements had to pass it up. However as my understanding of Italian was/is pretty much confined to ordering in restaurants and sundry pleasantries, I felt that this tour might have been beyond me, although I would have loved the experience.
I'd love to hear how it is for you, so do post back please.

I looked at the press release.
The e-mail request for advance reservations on is different than you listed: [email protected]
The press release states, "....and requires advance reservation by writing to the Ufficio Visite Speciali (email:[email protected])."
Do you know which one is correct?

gohedwig,
We just returned from Rome last night!
I would love to be there still...anyway, the email address on my confirmation for the Scavi Tour is
[email protected]
And if you have time and interest the new tour, the Roman Necropolis along the Via Triumphalis, may be requested by emailing...
[email protected]
Tours for the excavations, located inside two building on Vatican grounds, are given Friday and Saturday only and are limited to groups of 25 persons.
Highly recommend both if you can swing it.
