Scandinavian Summer Travel
Hi all,
I will be traveling to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden this summer and wanted to get the forum's input on my itinerary so far. I have all the hotels and flights booked so assuming the below itinerary is doable and does not seem rushed given the amount of travel, I'd keep it as is unless there's something I absolutely need to do/add time to ensure I have a good time in the region.
1) Fly into Copenhagen from US (East Coast) and arrive at the hotel around 11AM-12PM. I will have the rest of that day (likely to be out of it given the overnight flight) and 2 more full days.
2) Then I will fly into Bergen, Norway and arrive at the hotel around 11AM. I will have the rest of that day and 2 more full days.
3) Finally I will fly into Stockholm and arrive at the hotel around 2PM. I will have the remainder of that day and 2 more full days. After that I will fly back to the States.
Is this sufficient time to see the main sights and not feel like I ran around like a chicken with its head missing? I'm not trying to see everything there is, more to get a taste of each city as I have never been to the Scandinavian region. I'd imagine Copenhagen and Stockholm would be more City wandering trips and ~2 full days should cover them (correct me if I'm wrong). I've heard that Bergen is small so I'd probably explore the city the first day and then do half-day/full-day trip to the fjords (Flam region) one or 2 of the days I'm there.
Any additional input would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
John

It seems a really short amount of time in each place. Summer is wonderful in Scandinavia but little time has been allocated.
Stockholm needs more days, the archipelago would be great to see if you’ve got the time. It’s half a day alone to see the Vasa Museum, then there’s Skansen and much more.
Similarly in Copenhagen. In summer do you want to miss the countryside and excursion to Louisiana for example? There are places just outside Copenhagen you may wish to visit.
And a bit of time to take it all in.

So do you think an additional day on the front and rear end would be sufficient? I think its probably easier for me to change the intl flight and add a night to each hotel in copenhagen/stockholm than it is to rearrange the flight to/from bergen part of the trip?

Or just go to Stockholm and enjoy that fully. A few nights in the Archipelago, lots of berry picking and fishing
Or fly to Bergen directly and explore the Fjords from there.
Summer is so wonderful up north, but not in a city: outside! So maybe allow yourself the time and opportunity to enjoy that fully. Norway is the more spectacular option for the outdoors. And there's lots going on over summer, even in Bergen

I too think you need an extra day in both Copenhagen and Stockholm. Also the major reason to go to go to Bergen in my opinion is to go to the fjords and you would only have time for the NiN. I would recommend adding a few days to Bergen and rent a car to explore the countryside. If you cannot do that adding a day to Stockholm snd Copenhagen will help make it a better trip.

Any suggestions for things to do near Bergen or must see areas within train/ferry/car drive?
