Santorini- need last minute hotel
We would appreciate recommendations for moderately priced last minute hotel accomodations or rentals in Santorini and Naxos for family of 5 with teenagers. Traveling July 4-July 20th. Thank you.

We just returned from Naxos and can recommend a number of Hotels right on Agios Georgios Beach - walking distance to the town. This is a great beach with very nice ocean front hotels that we found fairly reasonable. Hotel Nissaki has a pool in the back. The one we stayed at was Hotel Asteria for 45 Euros/night. Hotel Glaros was very nice with big shared balconies & very nice atmosphere (greekish). All of these are right on the beach and around 45 Euros for end of May/early June. Hotel Panorma is on the street behind but is very nice as well. You are going in a busy season so the price might be more now.

I took my family of four to Blue Dolphins on Santorini in May 2002. We had ajoining apartment rooms with a kitchen and a wonderful view of the caldera. It was priced well below hotels in Thera with equal view and quality. It is however a kilometer from the action. If you are on a budget it's a good choice.
For Naxos, we have stayed at Hotel Glaros right on St George beach which is essentially in Naxos Town. For a family of 5 you may want to try Glaros studios. It comes with two bedrooms, kitchen and a sitting area. About a two minute walk from the beach it was very well priced about 27 euros a night in May. July of course will be higher. It's clean, a wee bit spartan, but certainly a good value for a family on a budget.
