Hi, I posted not to long ago about a honeymoon to Italy. After some research my fiance and I decided on the places we would like to go to. (We plan on going 9/10/06-9/22/06. Can you please let me know what you think? Hotel suggestions, restaurants and must do's are appreciated. I also need advice on transportation from and to each place. Any stops along the way to each town? You are all very helpful. My fiance and I thank you.

I think your itinerary sounds fine. An excursion to Naples, Pompeii, and other points in that area can be obtained through several tour services. Since you will be in Rome for several days, a day trip to the south might not be a bad idea. Otherwise, I like the plan and I think you are not trying to do too much.

My suggestion is to take the train between the cities. Your itinerary sounds very nice to me. Please take a look at this hotel in Venice. I may have already given you the name on a previous post, but I really do think it's a lovely place, Pensione La Calcina in Venice. www.lacalcina.com The front corner rooms with a view of the Guidecca canal are charming. A nice breakfast is included and served either on the patio over the canal or in the small dining room. There is a rooftop deck that you can make a reservation to use some afternoon with an amazing view out over Venice. Congratulations and happy honeymooning.

Your first day in Rome you might not get to see too much (depending on when you land and how jetlagged you are) which leaves just two additional days. I would not plan on a trip outside the city - in two day's you'll barely scratch the surface. If you can, I'd drop your days in Monterosso and add them to Rome, unless you're really put off by a bigger city. Also, you might be underestimating how much time and effort is involved in packing, relocating, and unpacking. Doing this four times in 11 days sounds exhausting to me. And you probably want to relax a bit after something as tiring (though exciting!) as a wedding.

Two or three days each in Florence and Venice is adequate. Just my opinion.

The day trip to Naples was just an idea. We may not do that. I was also thinking of cutting down a day somewhere and adding a day to florence.

11 days, not including air travel time, is barely enough time to see three places; I would recommend adding another two or three days to the trip. Pick three of the four places in that list that you want to go to. I'm not a big fan of Big-Three-Only (Rome/Florence/Venice) trips, but given how you're flying open jaw into Rome and out of Venice, it makes sense. Getting from Cinque Terre (Monterosso) to Venice is a pain in the butt.

I recommend dropping Monterosso or adding two to three more days to the trip. A day trip to Naples would take away what little time in Rome you already have. You should drop Naples too.
